I am a firm believer in what Elizabeth Gilbert calls “the arrogance of belonging”, and it is within this statement that I deliver my thoughts and passions on what I see as the important topics of our day. I celebrate us, and our absurdity. We are beautiful, horrid, tragic, and profoundly funny.
Suprina was born in New York and studied sculpture at the University of the Arts in Phila. Pa., thou she never graduated. Instead she dove into the world of prop making and opened a very successful business doing work with clients like Annie Leibovitz, Apple Computer, Bloomingdales NY, and the Bronx Zoo to name a few. She learned how to fabricate almost anything from this experience and brought it to her own artwork after 9/11. Suprina lived a few blocks from ground zero, and being there changed everything for her. Soon after, Suprina, feeling her own mortality decided to focus solely on her own artwork. Since then she has been awarded funds by the LMCC, The Puffin Foundation, and UMEZ for public art. She has also won cash prizes, and been voted ‘Best Portfolio’ by Pro Arts in 2013,2015,2017. Her work is usually social, political, and environmental. She has shown in Chelsea, Governors Island, Chicago, Scottsdale, Brooklyn, Harlem, Newark and other locations.
