I am a Hudson Valley based artist who has a passion for painting the beautiful scenery of the Hudson Valley and other areas that inspire me. My desire is to express on canvas what I want the viewer to experience. I have a BS in Art Education and an MS in Fine Art. I have studied under local and accomplished artists Seth Nadel and Kevin Cook. With Kevin Cook, I learned the palette and techniques of the Hudson River School artists. This has evolved into a combination of that technique with my more impressionistic style.
Most of my subjects are taken from photographs I take myself while walking, hiking or traveling. I especially love the scenic landscapes and historical sites in the Hudson Valley. Interpreting light and color are extremely important to me, and I try to capture the essence of the subject in my paintings. It is my hope that the viewer will be able to share in my experiences of being there through my expressions on canvas.
I have exhibited and sold work locally, most recently:
Poughkeepsie Open Studios 2020 Exhibition
Arts Mid-Hudson Hope and Change 2020 Virtual Exhibit
The Town of Wappingers 2021 9/11 Exhibit
Art Studio Views 2021
Artist's Collective of Hyde Park, Bannerman Gallery, Barrett Art Center, Mill Street Loft, Rhinebeck Bank and the Desmond-Fish Library. I have also participated in many PaintOuts held in the area.
Recently I painted two inspired paintings depicting the Coronavirus to elicit hope – one using the Walkway Over the Hudson and the other of New York City – an article was published in the Southern Dutchess News about my paintings. It is my hope to show hope and light and the beauty of our world through my paintings.
