ABOUT THE ARTIST:
I, Hoodie Crescent was born in Nagano, Japan. Raised in Osaka, I studied and graduated with a degree in Graphics and Illustration at Art College in Osaka. Studied computer skills at SVA. I worked in textile design for Japanese trading companies whose clients were from the US, Canada, and Australia and did illustration work for magazines, newspapers, advertising, and TV show displays, as well as costume design for the parade events. I participated in several group exhibitions and solo shows in Kanazawa, Osaka, and Tokyo from 1988 to 1993. Solo show “Blooming Woman” at Frameworks NY on East 19th St. 1994
I moved to the US in NJ in 1993. I worked as a contract designer for some wholesale fabric companies, Timeless Treasure Fabrics, Michael Miller Fabrics, and Blank Quilting in NYC. I worked with Stof Fabrics (Denmark) for 4 years, then moved to the US company - Paintbrush Studio Fabric In Kansas. I created fabric designs over 700 after I moved to the US. I attended International Quilt Market as an exhibitor for about 15 years. My licensed fabric group collections with my needle works were popular in the market from 2001 to 2016.
I was introduced to the market exhibitions, magazines, and books internationally. A couple of my quilts were prized.
I collaborated with Simplicity for about ten years.

Lately, in 5 years, I've been teaching Arts and Crafts for children six to 13 years old at Summer Camps. It is my pressure job now. Drawing, layout, color coordination, art concepts, and developing skills (Drawing, Painting, hand and Machine Sewing,) They learn in exciting ways, as I don't expect sometimes. Especially when they completed their artworks, they were very confident. I want to keep working on my teaching opportunity for a wide open now! Plus - Japanese culture (Syu-ji / Sumi-e/ Fabgami) and language classes.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
"Painting is a way for me to connect with my spirituality, and highlights my relationship with the unknown. Photography fortifies my relationship with nature and helps me value the beauty of our world in its grand scheme and in its smallest and most trivial things. It also leads me to reflect on human and nature connectedness and my own journey.
I am far from a purist and do not have a specific style. My art displays my vision and who I am; and also compels me to reconnect with my heritage. I love art for many reasons. It can raise consciousness through pushing us to see things differently, to pay attention. Art is powerful. Its power lies in the fact that they can transport us to places not previously visited, allowing us to dream by carrying us to worlds beyond ours. There are multiple stories and truths in every art work; however, they ultimately tell a single story—the story of humanity and all of its complexities and splendor."
What identities are important to you and how have they impacted your practice?
"I am a Brazilian artist residing in the United States for almost 30 years. I am also an associate professor in the Business Management Department at The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in Hyde Park, NY. I am a wine connoisseur and I hold a Doctoral Degree in Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, NY. I speak Portuguese, Spanish, English, and some French. I love music; I play guitar and sing. I also love movies, theater, food, and wine. Most of all, I love spending time with my daughter Elena, my son-in-law Kenneth, partner Alex, family, friends, and Truffle, my fur child. Most of my art is inspired by the people I love and my relationships with them."

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Alexa Grace received her BFA from the School of Visual Arts. She began her illustrating career while still in school. Her drawings have appeared in and on covers of a multitude of publications
such as:
The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Atlantic Monthly, Vanity Fair, Mademoiselle, Glamour, Connoisseur, Time, Newsweek, Life Magazine, Town and Country, The Boston Globe, Sports Illustrated, The Village Voice, The Detroit Free Press, Travel and Leisure, Texas Monthly, L.A. Style, Hi Fashion (Tokyo) and Dai Nippon Printing, UTNE Reader, In Style, Rolling Stone. National Lampoon, Seventeen, Byte, Ms Magazine, Prevention, International Herald Tribune....and many others.
Her porcelain work and drawings were first exhibited along with
Edward Gorey at the Graham Gallery, followed by other shows there.
She has had two exhibitions at the Ginza Art Space in Tokyo, Aaron Faber Gallery on 53rd Street across from MoMa, New York Technical Institute, NYC...Kohler Art Gallery, Fairtree Gallery, Julie's Artisan both on Madison Avenue and received an Art Park Grant...
She has also shown her work at The Blue Door Gallery in Yonkers
where she continues to have a studio in the Mohawk Carpet Factory. For a few years she participated in Kentuck (an outsider show) in Northport, Alabama with her tile work. She is currently etching copper and enameling on steel and rearranging her many objects until they are mathematically correct.....and dusting....Don't forget the dust....

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Barbara’s work has been described as “painterly”, sometimes “romantic” or “dramatic” and is sometimes noted for its unusual light. Her work is influenced by her love of her cherished Hudson Valley – its unique amber light and beautiful shadows and reflections – as well as its school of painters. Henri Cartier-Bresson and classic noir films have affected her monotone work. A self-taught photographer, Barbara’s subjects range from landscapes to abstractions and from straight photography to digital art. She emphasizes the many dimensions of reflections and the energy of contrast. For Barbara, the art of looking is as important as the rest of the image creation process. She strives for each work to break new ground rather than repeat herself artistically. Recently she has been producing prints on aluminum as well as traditional photo and art papers.
Barbara is a freelance photographer and digital artist and a founding member of Artists’ Collective of Hyde Park, where she currently serves as Vice President. She handles Marketing, website maintenance and social media for the group. Previously she was Secretary for Art Along the Hudson. She is also a member of The Art League of Hyde Park and Poughkeepsie. Barbara has shown her work in group and solo shows, some juried, since 2012 in a number of Hudson Valley venues. She is a two-time participant in the juried Art in the Loft show in Millbrook, NY. She was the first artist to show her work in the Poughkeepsie Common Council Chambers, which became an ongoing event space that was made possible by Arts Mid-Hudson working with the City.
Barbara Todd is a Hyde Park native and graduate of Marist College. After a few years working locally at Hudson Valley Credit Union, where she evolved from IRA specialist to IT Applications analyst, she began working in New York City. Beginning as a consultant, she worked her way up from Senior Quality Assurance Analyst to Manager at Columbia House, then Manager of QA for Sales Systems at Viacom to Director of Quality Assurance at Scholastic Corporation. Most recently she has consulted as Project Manager and QA Lead at HDtracks and Program Coordinator at Sustainable Hudson Valley.
