Event Update: We are on hold!
We have decided to postpone Poughkeepsie Open Studios, which was scheduled for June 20-21, 2020. We are looking for another date in the future when artists and visitors will be able to freely gather and enjoy visiting and discussing art without concern.
In the meantime we are discussing an alternative approach to feature the work of artists who have registered for Open Studios on our website, Facebook, and Instagram in the form of short artwork slide shows or studio videos. We are preparing guidelines for the imagery and information and would appreciate suggestions from artists having prior experience with this type of promotion. We hope this will build interest for the next Poughkeepsie Open Studios and help keep our local artists top of mind for art appreciators, collectors and supporters here and in our extended community.
The arts community can play a significant role in keeping us all connected and hopeful in times of isolation. Witness people coming to their balconies each day in Italy to sing together or the Metropolitan Museum making their collections available online. Let’s be creative and imagine together how we can share art and inspiration with our neighbors and community.
Poughkeepsie Open Studios is a free, self-guided tour of the Poughkeepsie, New York area.
Visit private working artist studios, temporary "pop-up" artist spaces and gallery exhibits, nestled in and around the historic buildings of our City. Plan adequate time for some poetry, literature, history, food, historical tours, artistic demonstrations and public participation activities.

This is an opportunity to interact personally with artists who live, work, or teach in our area, and to find out more about their inspirations, their creative processes, and the types of media they employ. While in the area, take time to experience the rich history and the broad cultural diversity of our community.
Poughkeepsie Open Studios is hosted by the Barrett Art Center, home of the Dutchess County Art Association, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to fostering an appreciation of arts in the Mid-Hudson valley through exhibitions, lectures, workshops, and demonstrations. This event is produced by an all-volunteer committee, partnering with our local artists, arts organizations, art galleries, and businesses.
